Eye care professionals specialize in understanding how the human eye really works, as well as diseases and conditions that affect your vision - many of which do not have obvious symptoms. Eye doctors know how age and risk factors affect vision over time for young and old, and they understand the benefits and features of corrective lenses including eyeglasses and contacts.
Our Dallas optometrists take the time to explain the results of your eye exam, describe your options and listen to your eye care needs. Because maintaining good eye health is an ongoing partnership, we encourage you to ask questions and share your health information, which could be vital to monitoring, diagnosing and treating potential vision problems. So if you're looking for eye doctors and eye care near you in the Dallas area, look no further than Huffman Family Eye Care!
Dr. Huffman obtained his undergraduate degree from UNC at Chapel Hill and is a dedicated Tarheels fan. He graduated from New England College of Optometry in Boston in 2001. After graduation he dedicated himself to optometry in both private practice, and corporate optometry. He opened Huffman Family Eye Care in 2008 with a passion to provide the best optometric care to every patient. He also believes that every patient deserves to be educated thoroughly about their ocular health, and prides himself in the time he dedicates to explaining his findings to his patients. He endeavors to provide quality care, in a casual and warm environment. In his limited spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife Rebekah, and daughter, Emily.
Dr. Kimberly Vazquez was born in New York but spent her childhood and youth being raised in south Florida. She earned her B.S. degree in Microbiology & Molecular Biology from the University of Central Florida, where she was a founding officer of the campus' first optometry-based organization and outreach group. She went on to receive her optometry degree at Nova Southeastern University, where she was an active member of SVOSH, COVD, and FOA.
During one of her fourth year clinical rotations, she came to Atlanta and quickly fell in love with the city. It drove her to pursue a residency in ocular disease at Omni Eye Services from 2012-2013. Ever since, Georgia has become home to her.
Over the years, Dr. Vazquez has worked diligently at both commercial and private practices, specifically alongside ophthalmologists. She is well experienced with the handling of patients pre and post operatively, treating ocular emergencies and disease, as well as successfully fitting patients with their proper visual correction. Dr. Vazquez is beyond excited to join the team at Huffman Family Eye Care and looks forward to meeting all of her patients' needs. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family, which includes two little ones, and traveling.
Amanda has been here from the beginning and loves what she does. She was Dr Huffman's first employee in 2008. While working part time, she was a part time student at Kennesaw State University where she graduated Cum Laude with a BS in Biochemistry in December 2016. She passed the exams for the American Board of Opticianry (ABO) in 2013, and National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLE) in 2016. She fulfilled the Georgia state requirements for licensed opticians in August 2019, and is proud to have her LDO (Licensed Dispensing Optician). She has a passion for optometry. From the retina, to the cornea, to glasses and contacts she loves it all. She loves to answer patient questions about their eyes, and explain the visual system.
Angela has been a Licensed Dispensing Optician since 1984 and joined Huffman Family Eye Care in 2009. Her extensive knowledge and experience covers every major aspect of the industry. She feels most at home in our finishing lab, where her high standards for quality and exquisite attention to detail are meticulously employed for the highest quality spectacles for every patient. She has a desire to fit patients in lenses that perfectly align to their unique lifestyle requirements. Her husband Mark also works in the industry, and they have six grandchildren who occupy the bulk of her spare time and affections.
Denise is a legacy optician and you might say she was “born into it.”. Her father owned an optometry practice in Rome GA for four decades, however Optician was her second career. She received her GA Dispensing License in September 2007 and has worked at Target Optical & Marietta Eye Clinic. She joined the Huffman Family in May 2021 and enjoys being able to provide patients with personalized products and a highly professional experience.
Teri joined the Huffman Family in 2013. She passed her American Board of Optician Certification test in August of 2019. The ABOC is a nationally recognized written test for opticians. She has a background in the public education system for Paulding County, and as such is a familiar face for many of our younger patients and their parents. Having needed glasses and contacts since early childhood, she has a soft spot for the smaller patients. She makes the process fun, and has an abundance of grace for making that first pair not so bad. If your child needs glasses, they will likely see "Ms. Teri" at some point in their visit to our office.
Andrea joined the Huffman team in December 2018 but was no stranger to the industry. She was a duel licensed optician in Ohio for 13 years and moved to Georgia 1 year ago. Since there is no reciprocity between states for an optician’s license, she is actively working toward obtaining her license here. She is one of the best technician’s the office has ever had the pleasure of having on staff, and her quick wit, and high energy is sure to make your visit here a good time. Fun fact about Andrea, she is Sarah Palin’s doppleganger!
Autumn joined the Huffman Family in November 2021 but she was no stranger to the optometric profession having worked in other private optometry offices. She enjoys photography and her puppy when she is not working. She also moonlights as a pharmacy technician so she is one of the most knowledgeable staff members when it comes to your prescribed medications.
PART OF THE FAMILY: ELLA TRUITT
Ella joined the Huffman Family in March of last year as an Ophthalmic Technician. It was her first job in eyecare, but a little more than 14 months later she’s found more than just a paycheck.
“Initially, I applied for and accepted the job because it was close to home,” said Ella. “But I am a very inquisitive person and like learning as much as I can. The longer I was here the more I liked it, the more I learned, and that kept me coming back every single day. Now, I am loving it. Absolutely loving it. Because of this job, there's an urge in me to turn this into a career.”
One thing that has played into Ella’s new career path; is her coworkers.
“Everyone here is extremely supportive of my new goals,” said Ella. “Everyone is more than willing to teach. Every single person is one of the kindest-hearted people you will meet. They are very open to taking in new people and treating them like they have known you their entire lives. Coming to work doesn’t feel like coming to work, it feels like I’m coming to my second home.”
As an Ophthalmic Tech, Ella is typically the second face our patients see when they arrive. She gets everything prepared for Drs. Huffman and Vazquez to examine the patients. That also allows her to build relationships with our patients, which is something Ella has both thrived at and enjoys.
“The patients are so kind and the majority have been coming for years and it creates a nice, warm, and loving environment to come to every single day,” said Ella.

Her intense attention to detail, and talent for organization, has made her an invaluable member of our billing and accounts receivable dept. & she also uses her talents as an ophthalmic technician assisting Dr. Huffman. Her intense fascination with the eye is currently inspiring her to pursue the ABO certification. If you have questions about your insurance or bill you can email her at ins@huffmaneye.com
